Born and raised in New York State in the Catskills with three siblings, Anne's early childhood was mostly consumed with running around the family garden, feeding chickens and ducks, picking apples, and climbing trees. She played town sports, attended public school and rounded it off with frequenting both a congregational church and a catholic parish, as the spirit moved her parents.
Moving to Springfield, Massachusetts at age 18 to obtain a business degree at college, meet her husband, and raise a family has kept her busy for the past 20 years. She worked for Shriners Hospital for Children in Springfield as a nurse’s aide, unit secretary, and quality improvement assistant and fell in love with working with children.
Anne and her family joined the
Unitarian Universalist Society of Greater Springfield in Massachusetts, and she immediately began to work with the youth, and even worked as the sexton! Eventually she trained to be the
Director of Religious Education. That congregation was the heart and soul of her family’s most crucial growing years and she will always be grateful and very deeply honored to have been a part of such a loving and spiritual community of people. Following that time Anne took a position as a DRE for the
Unitarian Universalist Church of Greater Lynn for a short period. However, she decided that it was too far to commute.
She moved to Maine in March 2007 with her family. They settled in Saco so that they could be close to
Ferry Beach Camp and Conference Center where her husband took a full time position on the staff and Anne began learning how to cook for Pangea Foods, the Ferry Beach food contractor. She decided to return to school to pursue a degree as a registered nurse at Southern Maine Community College and that keeps her busy learning.
Anne is very excited to be the
Director of Religious Education at Allen Avenue UU Church. In addition to her school and her work here at church, she cooks 24 hours a month for an assisted living center in Gorham for elders, enjoys pottery as a hobby, loves to read, spend time with her family, enjoy the ocean at Ferry Beach, collect postcards, and she loves to cook!
