Window Dressers is a volunteer-driven non-profit organization dedicated to helping Maine residents reduce heating costs, fossil fuel consumption, and CO-2 emissions by lowering the amount of heat loss through windows.
Window Dressers does volunteer-run “community builds” of energy efficient interior window inserts to help local residents save money on their heating bills each winter. Each spring Window Dressers solicits home owners and renters who wish to improve the efficiency of their older windows. To get on the client list you can go to the web site or call the main office and fill out an information questionnaire. In late spring you will be contacted for an appointment to have your windows evaluated and measured. Window Dressers offers inserts for those in need at a minimal cost, in keeping with it’s non profit status.
How you can help:
Each year we expect to have a late fall ‘community build’ and clients will have the assistance of volunteers to fabricate their energy saving inserts. As a service oriented non-profit, Window Dressers relies on the social consciousness of its volunteers to fabricate between 350 to 500 inserts each year. You can go to the web site and sign up as a volunteer as well.
At present we will be having fall ‘builds’ at the Irish Heritage Center and also at Allagash Brewery. Both organizations value the effort that Window Dressers brings to our community and give generously of their time and spaces.
