Summary of Board Meeting, March 2018

Ministry exit interviews: Joe Sullivan of the New England Region UUA staff conducted separate exit interviews for our Congregation’s shared ministry with Rev. Myke, one with the Board and one with Rev. Myke. Exit interviews are conducted at the end of all settled ministries and are a chance to reflect on and to spur thinking about issues we want to work on during our interim ministry. Transcripts of the responses will be shared with our Interim Minister and with our next Settled Minister.

Annual Congregational meeting will be held Friday evening, June 1, at 6:30.

Retirement party for Rev. Myke: The Board and the Committee on Ministry will share planning.

Director of Religious Education:  Carolyn Barschow has applied and been accepted at several divinity schools for the fall of 2018.  The Personnel Committee has met to discuss hiring a replacement before the end of the church year so the new RE Director can overlap with Carolyn.  The Board authorized Rev. Myke and the Personnel Committee to initiate the RE Director hiring process immediately, including appointing a hiring committee for the position. During her tenure Carolyn built an excellent and enthusiastic RE Committee which will help ensure continuity of RE programs.

FY 2018/19 budget and stewardship: our stewardship campaign may fall short of its $235K goal for pledge income, partly because of a smaller pledging population, and we may have to ask for a second round of pledges.  We will raise our rental rates by 3.5% in FY 18/19.  Russ also reported that the market value of our endowment grew by $40k since last June.

NNED-UUA Spring Assembly: the Board authorized Angie to appoint delegates to the NNED-UUA Spring Assembly.

Interim Ministry: the Board will hold an additional meeting on 5/8/17 to discuss candidates for Interim Minister.
