Our annual Tri-Church Retreat for spring 2020 invites us into creativity, experimentation and imagination as we try out a NEW weekend retreat location.
We can’t hold our 2020 retreat at Ferry Beach during our assigned weekend there because we at A2U2 are candidating and voting for a new minister then—an important and exciting time for us. We couldn’t negotiate alternate dates at Ferry Beach, but rest assured we have penciled in reservations there for our usual weekend in 2021.
Our committee from Auburn UU, Norway UU, and A2U2 explored other sites and options for our retreat next May. Our deliberations told us that we valued community over place—and that led us to the historic Poland Spring Resort for May 15-17, 2020. (Check it out at https://polandspringresort.com)
The rolling hills of this 500 acre campus are a 30-40 minute drive from our three churches. Poland Spring has welcomed guests since 1794 with beautiful White Mountain views and offers horseshoes, tennis, volleyball, bocce ball, cornhole toss, tetherball, putting green, swings, and hiking trails. Other amenities include a pub, library, ice cream and gift shops, museum, and down-home meals.
We’ll have hotel rooms with wi-fi and private baths in The Maine Inn—the hub of our activities—as well as access to the Presidential Inn’s movie and fitness rooms and kids’ playroom.
We’ll hold Friday evening sing-along and music jamming, plus music of Denny Breau. Denny was in the music trio Turkey Hollow with Dave and Tom Rowe, former music directors at Auburn UU.
The newness is exciting! We welcome your input as the retreat Committee envisions fresh possibilities for our 2020 retreat.
