General Assembly (GA) is the annual meeting of our Unitarian Universalist Association (UUA). Participants worship, witness, learn, connect, and make policy for the Association through democratic process.
GA Business & Voting
Each church gets a number of delegates to vote on association business (the # depends on church size).
Ministers and Religious Educators also count as delegates, but don’t take away from the congregation’s total. A2U2 is entitled to 3 delegates at GA this year (delegates must be members of the congregation).
Do you want to represent A2U2?! If so, send Board President Ann Packard an email expressing your interest. If more than 3 people express interest, the Board will decide based on the goal of getting a diverse range of members representing the congregation (as per our bylaws).
There are 2 ways to participate in General Assembly.
– Be a virtual attendee, which has a registration fee and gives you live access to all GA programming. The UUA has scholarships available for both of these options. You don’t need to be a delegate to participate in GA!
– Be a business-only attendee (for delegates only), which means you’re able to participate in all business meetings and voting without cost.
What are we voting on??
–The big vote this year is to adopt the new language for Article II of our UUA Bylaws which will change our 7 Principles and 6 Sources to the language of 7 Core Values with Love at the center.
–Acts of Immediate Witness to guide our justice work as an association in the year to come.
–And more!
GA @ A2U2?!
If A2U2 delegates would like to participate online, they can do so from home OR come together at church and use one of the screens to live stream the program and talk together about how they’re voting. A2U2 members might also choose to stream worship/workshops/other programming from the church to experience GA together in Portland!
