We are back in full-swing with all things A2U2 after a holiday break!

Members and friends,

We are back in full-swing with all things A2U2 after a holiday break! Thank you for your patience with the staff team as we catch up on email, etc, after our time away.

This Sunday we begin a two-part worship series entitled “The Prophets’ Journey,” inspired by Richard Rohr’s latest book The Tears of Things: Prophetic Wisdom for an Age of Outrage. We’ll reflect on the societal role of the prophet in ancient times and draw parallels to the times we are living in now. Do we  revere truth-telling, radical honesty, anger in the face of injustice, and cultural/societal critique? How might we, whether or not we wish to be prophets of our time, follow the prophetic journey from anger and judgement, through chaos and tears, to deeper compassion, openheartedness, and connection with all that is.

Part one is “Holy Chaos.” And part two, on MLK Sunday (1/18) is “Tears at the Heart of Things.” And for the next two weeks, down the hall from the Sanctuary, our children and youth will be doing a deep dive into the concept of the Beloved Community, including the annual Building the Beloved Community Fort session on 1/18.  We hope you and your families will join us!

There is much to despair and rage about this week. If you’d like to gather with others in vigil and protest over yesterday’s horrific ICE events in Minneapolis, there will be a gathering in Monument Square beginning at 5:30pm. Our friends at First Parish will have the church open for bathrooms and warmth if needed.

And if you’re looking for other ways to connect and places to plug in, please read your friday ENews… there are no shortage of opportunities!

See you in church.

In faith,

Rev. Tara
