What a rich and full-to-the-brim final weekend of this church year we just had. I am still recovering. And my heart is still full. We had a meaningful pride worship at First Parish and a fun time marching together with our new banner (and great weather!). Flower Communion was stunning as always. Isn’t it amazing what we create when we choose one another?
I want to thank the many hands who made the Celebration of Life for Clay Atkinson such a beautiful Sunday afternoon. It warmed my heart and lifted my spirits to see so many of you come together to pitch in and create a gorgeous gathering and final send off for a beloved friend. When I left, hours after the service, a few of you were left in the kitchen, wrapping up the final load of dishes, talking and laughing. Doing the true messy and holy work of community. Isn’t it amazing what we create when we choose one another?
I look forward to one last service together before I begin summer leave and you begin 8 weeks of services led by your friends and peers. This is your final reminder to wear a favorite family-friendly t-shirt on Sunday morning! Our service, “T-Shirt Theology,” will be an interactive service reflecting on the ways in which we wear our values as well as how we perceive one another based on what we choose to show. I can’t wait to swap t-shirt stories and do theology together in the process! This is a service for all ages.
If I don’t see you on Sunday, I wish you a safe, fun, restorative, and meaningful summer. I look forward to when we are all together again on our beautiful grounds at A2U2.
In faith,
Rev. Tara
