Nursery Care at Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church in Portland Maine

We welcome families with infants and toddlers at Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist church (A2U2) in Portland, Maine.  Young children are always welcome to remain in the sanctuary with their families for Sunday morning worship services.  We also offer nursery care for ages infant to four during Sunday services.

Our nursery is staffed by two paid childcare providers to provide consistency for young children.  Family members may stay with a young child as long as is needed.  When it feels comfortable, we encourage adults to attend worship services while the child plays with our caring staff members.  We will ask you to register your child for safety purposes.  Please talk to a nursery staff member to complete a registration form.  We also ask that your child have a fresh diaper before leaving your child with nursery staff.

Some helpful spaces at A2U2 for families with young children:

  • The foyer area just outside the sanctuary doors is equipped with an audio system so adults whose infant needs space to move and “talk” may hear the worship service.
  • A changing table is located in the one-person bathroom by the RE Foyer and Minister’s Office.
  • The Nursery has a comfortable cushioned space and a rocking chair to soothe little ones.

Nursery care is offered for infants, toddlers and preschoolers from 9:45 AM to 11:30 AM.
