On the third Saturday of each month, from 9:30 AM to noon, via Zoom we gather to talk about the challenges, concerns, revelations and perplexities of “the third third” of life. We’re a self-led group, and sometimes our agenda is simply thoughtful consideration of a topic which arises as we check-in in turn around the circle. But most often someone at the prior meeting offers to bring a topic for discussion and serves as our facilitator.

At this month’s Elder Salon, Rev. Tara will lead us in an exploration of gender identity, trans identity, and gender pronouns. We’ll reflect together on how we have experienced gender roles in our own lives, how we might have chosen to express our gender differently if we could go back in time, and what terminology we’ve heard/used to talk about trans and nonbinary identity. Why is everyone sharing their pronouns these days and why does it matter? How do we know what’s appropriate to ask a trans or nonbinary person? What do we do when we screw up? Please bring your curiosity and questions, an open mind and spirit, and a readiness to learn something new!

I hope you’ll join us on May 20th. And please invite a friend or partner who may also be interested in this topic. All are welcome. FMI or to get the zoom link for next week’s meeting, contact Kathy Gulrich, cookingcoachkathy@gmail.com.
