“New to A2U2” workshops, offered two or three times a year, are good preparation for becoming a member. They include a luncheon and give you an opportunity to meet other newcomers.  Topics include Unitarian Universalist history, theology, and principles; an overview of our programs and activities; and responsibilities of membership. Workshops are led by our minister, the Chair of our Membership Committee and other leaders of our church. Childcare is available upon request.

When you are ready to become a member, you talk to the Minister or the Chair of the Membership Committee, and complete a New Member Covenant, which asks you to identify your areas of interest in sharing your time and talents and what you can anticipate as a monthly financial pledge.  When this is complete, you can sign our Membership Book, which is usually done as part of a New Members Sunday service.

For more information contact Diane Oberbeck, Chair of the Membership Committee.

New Members Sunday service

During the service, we invite new members to stand, be introduced by name, and participate in a simple ceremony. Before the service, we take photographs of each new member, and we also ask you to write a paragraph introducing yourself to help the congregation, to help us get to know you..

After you become a member of A2U2, the journey continues.  We hope our new members will become active participants in the life of our church community. Come to our Sunday services as regularly as you can, work on your own spiritual development, serve on a committee or on projects, attend some of our activities (issue forums, film nights, fund raising events, and more), and come to our meetings.
