Happy New Year members and friends!
I had a truly wonderful holiday season at Allen Avenue. Solstice was beautiful, Christmas Eve lively and sparkly, and Christmas Day Zoom full of laughter and connection. I hope you weathered travels and family or alone time well and managed to stay healthy.
There is so much to look forward to at A2U2 in this new season of 2023. Join us when you can!
This Sunday, we’ll have an all-ages worship service celebrating Epiphany, the day the three magi (or wisemen) arrived at the manger after a long journey of following the Star. We’ll wrap up the Christmas season with one more carol – We Three Kings – and explore, in both reflective and interactive ways, what North Stars guide us as individuals and as a community as we live lives rooted in our UU faith.
Next week we’ll honor MLK Sunday with a service exploring MLK Jr.’s vision of the Beloved Community and the role of accountability in our anti-oppression work and community building. And the week after THAT is an exciting one! A worship service followed by a workshop entitled Music Making for Justice with Matt Meyer (you don’t have to be a singer to get a lot out of this!). Matt is an engaging, thoughtful and fun music and worship leader and I know you’ll enjoy your time with him. Learn more about his work here: Rhythm Revelations. Later in the month, Jane Prairie is offering a multi-session mindfulness workshop that looks fantastic, which you can learn more about in your Friday ENews.
And, of course, there is much I’m forgetting, I am sure.
Most importantly, know that there is a place for you here at A2U2 this year. We need each other. And we are stronger together. If you’d like to connect with me, you know how to get in touch!
With joy and care,
Rev. Tara
